6 Years

By the time kids hit the 6-year stage, life is usually pretty full-on — think school days, playground adventures, sport, parties, messy creativity and lots of growing! It’s also a time when clothing needs to keep up with their energy, personality and ever-changing size.

In Australia, this age group is most commonly labelled Size 6 or 6 years, but like all kidswear, the fit can vary between brands depending on the fabric, style and cut. As a general guide, Size 6 often suits children weighing around 20–22kg and measuring up to about 120cm in height — but checking height and weight is usually a better way to choose than going by age alone.

At this stage, kids often have strong opinions about what they want to wear (and what they definitely don’t 😄), so comfort and confidence are key. Look for soft but durable fabrics, easy-to-move-in styles, adjustable waists and practical layers that can handle everything from classroom time to climbing frames and weekend outings.
