Around the 7-year mark, kids are usually well and truly into their school rhythm — with packed days full of learning, sport, playground fun and growing independence. It’s also a stage where clothes need to be tough enough for real life, but still feel comfy and “cool” enough to pass the kid approval test.

In Australia, this age group is most often labelled Size 7 or 7 years, although the fit can still vary between brands depending on fabric stretch, style and cut. As a general guide, Size 7 often suits children weighing around 22–25kg and measuring up to about 125cm in height. Since every child grows differently, checking height and build rather than just age can really help when choosing the best fit.

At this stage, kids are usually super active and starting to express their own style, so practical features make a big difference. Think durable fabrics, adjustable waistbands, easy layers for changing weather, and outfits that move with them — from classroom to sports field to weekend adventures.
