6-12 Months

As your baby moves into the 6–12 month stage, you may notice they stay in each clothing size a little longer — but working out the right fit can still feel confusing. One of the most important things to remember is that baby clothing is based on average growth, and your baby’s weight and length are usually more accurate guides than age alone.

In Australia, this stage is most commonly labelled Size 0 or 6–12 months. As a general guide, Size 0 is designed to suit babies weighing around 7–9kg (and up to around 10kg) and measuring up to approximately 76cm in length. However, because sizing can vary between brands, some garments may run larger or smaller depending on the fabric, cut, and style.

This is also a lovely stage of development. Your baby may be sitting, crawling, pulling up to stand, or even taking first steps, so clothing that allows freedom of movement and comfort becomes especially important.
